Boston Scientific reports ‘significant progress’ in 2010
Boston Scientific has expressed confidence that its business activity during 2010 will position the company well for future growth.
According to data from the firm's financial report for the year, Boston Scientific sales came to $7.81 billion (4.83 billion pounds) over the last 12 months.
The company observed improved performance for its worldwide neuromodulation and endoscopy divisions, while receiving European CE Mark approval for key new products such as Incepta, Energen and Punctua.
During the year, Boston Scientific was also able to strengthen its presence in priority areas via the targeted acquisitions of Asthmatx, Sadra Medical, Atritech and Intelect Medical.
Additionally, as part of this strategic movement, it sold off its non-core neurovascular business to fellow medical device manufacturer Stryker, a deal which was concluded last month.
Ray Elliott, president and chief executive officer of Boston Scientific, said: "We've made significant progress in our strategy to realign our portfolio through the execution of our priority growth initiatives."
