Bristol-Myers Squibb makes donation to Aids charity
Bristol-Myers Squibb has provided a grant to an Aids charity in order to fund a series of HIV care programmes in the US.
The biopharmaceutical company has provided a donation to the National Aids Fund which will be used to support 35 community organisations to provide improved access to treatment and clinical care.
It comes as part of the company’s Positive Charge charity initiative, which is dedicated to helping people living with HIV/Aids to receive support, as well as contributing to the scientific agenda.
Anthony Hooper, president of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s US, Japanese and intercontinental operations, said that work with charities allows the company to assist in the fight against Aids beyond its drug development programmes.
He added: “We know this work is complex, but we need to work together to break down the barriers to HIV care for people living with HIV and Aids.”
Last month, the company published its financial report for the first quarter of 2010 during which its sales and earnings saw double-digit year-on-year sales growth.
