Bristol-Myers Squibb to present data on new cancer drugs
Bristol-Myers Squibb is to attend the upcoming annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in order to present data on its oncology portfolio.
The biopharmaceutical company will be detailing trial results and analysis pertaining to 13 compounds, including data from several phase III clinical studies.
These will include a study of the immuno-oncology agent ipilimumab, which gauges the treatment’s efficacy against advanced melanoma, as well as data analysing Erbitux and Ixempra as therapies for breast cancer.
Dr Elliott Sigal, executive vice-president, chief scientific officer and president of research and development at Bristol-Myers Squibb, said: “We are excited by the potential of immuno-oncology, an entirely new paradigm in the treatment of multiple types of cancer in which a patient’s own immune system is activated to fight cancer cells.”
In addition, the firm will also present trial results for Sprycel, a new treatment it has developed in conjunction with Otsuka.
Last month, Bristol-Myers Squibb published its financial report for the first quarter, during which its sales increased by 11 per cent year-on-year.
