Bristol-Myers Squibb to showcase immuno-oncology drugs at ASCO

Bristol-Myers Squibb has announced that new data on its approved and investigational immuno-oncology compounds will be presented at the upcoming annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

The company will give six oral presentations at the event in Chicago from May 31st to June 4th 2013 discussing the performance of Yervoy and the investigational PD-1 receptor-blocking antibody nivolumab in the treatment of various cancers.

Data from a phase I trial combining nivolumab and Yervoy in patients with advanced melanoma will be showcased, as well as further information detailing nivolumab's performance in the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer, melanoma and renal cell carcinoma.

Michael Giordano, senior vice-president and head of development at Bristol-Myers Squibb's oncology and immunology department, said: "Our ultimate goal with immuno-oncology is to improve patient outcomes and long-term survival across a broad range of cancers."

Bristol-Myers Squibb will also present study results on a number of other oncology therapies, including elotuzumab.

This comes after the company attended the 2013 International Liver Congress last month, where it discussed the latest findings from its hepatitis B and C drug development efforts.
