Celgene and Adimab announce antibody discovery alliance

Celgene has entered into a new research and development alliance with Adimab, centering on the discovery of new fully human antibodies.

The partnership will see Adimab will use its proprietary technology platform to generate therapeutic antibodies against multiple targets, which Celgene will have the right to develop and commercialise.

For each target on which Celgene chooses to exercise its option, Adimab will receive licence fees, clinical milestone-based payments and royalties on future product sales.

Adimab's platform is a versatile tool which can be applied to a variety of different therapeutic development approaches, including IgG discovery, optimisation, humanisation and bispecifics.

Tillman Gerngross, chief executive officer and co-founder of Adimab, said: "Celgene has developed a highly successful oncology and inflammation franchise and we are excited to partner with them to support their expanding antibody-based therapeutic portfolio."

Earlier this month, Celgene received US regulatory clearance to commence a new product development alliance with MorphoSys, focusing on the monoclonal antibody MOR202.
