Coca-Cola announces 14% rise in profits
Coca-Cola has announced its profits for the past year have increased by 14 per cent.
The manufacturer of soft drinks including Sprite, Oasis and Glaceau Vitaminwater recently launched in the UK said the company was "built" for times of economic uncertainty.
Quoted by Associated Press, chief executive Muhtar Kent told investors: "We are clearly in uncharted territory in these global markets.
"I’m confident in our ability to navigate in these challenging times."
Coca-Cola recorded its earnings for the quarter ending September 26th as $1.89 billion (1.09 billion pounds), compared to $1.65 billion (957 million pounds) in the same period last year.
This translates to 81 cents (47 pence) per share in the last quarter, compared to 71 cents (41 pence) per share in the third quarter of 2007.
Revenue increased by nine per cent to $8.39 billion in the latest report.
