Colgate announces quarterly dividend

17th July 2009

Colgate’s board of directors has declared its latest quarterly cash dividend for the company’s shareholders.

In a statement, the dental organisation announced that the dividend is 44 cents (26p) per common share of stock, which is payable to shareholders of record at the close of business on July 24th.

The dividend will be paid on August 14th.

Colgate, which sells its products in more than 200 countries and territories around the world, announced: “The company has paid uninterrupted dividends on its common stock since 1895.”

In February, Colgate announced that it was to increase the ongoing quarterly common stock cash dividend by ten per cent from the second quarter of 2009. Until that point, the firm offered quarterly dividend payments of 40 cents.

Speaking at the time, Ian Cook, Colgate chairman, chief executive and president, said that this increase was due to “the board’s confidence in the continued strong and profitable growth of Colgate’s global business”.
