Colgate-Palmolive reports further growth in first quarter of 2013
Colgate-Palmolive has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2013, during which it experienced year-on-year net sales growth of 2.5 percent.
The company's revenue total came to $4.32 billion (2.79 billion pounds), with global unit volume growing by four percent, while global market shares in the toothpaste and manual toothbrush markets grew to record high levels.
Currently, it controls 45.6 percent of the toothpaste market, while this figure stands at 33.4 percent for manual toothbrushes.
During the quarter, the firm's advertising spending increased – a trend that will continue as further product launches take place this year – and progress was made with its ongoing corporate restructuring programme.
Ian Cook, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Colgate-Palmolive, said: "Looking forward, we expect our growth momentum to continue as we progress through the year."
The firm is currently sponsoring the British Dental Conference and Exhibition, which is taking place at ExCeL London this week.
