Cook Medical launches OHNS division in Europe

Cook Medical has announced the European launch of its new otolaryngology/head and neck surgery (OHNS) division.

The business unit was introduced in the US last September and is now making its EU market debut with the release of several products addressing conditions in six ear, nose and throat (ENT) practice areas.

Among them will be various salivary duct access products, the Hercules 3 Stage Oesophageal Balloon, the Chiba EchoTip Biopsy Needle, the Biodesign Dural Graft and the Biodesign ENT Surgical Reinforcement Graft.

These will help to treat problems such as obstructive salivary gland disease, chronic rhinosinusitis, vocal cord paralysis and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Pete Yonkman, executive vice-president of strategic business units for Cook Medical, said: "Cook OHNS is bringing critical new products to market and training doctors in the procedures they're used for. We hope to help more patients and touch more clinicians with this technology."

The new products were demonstrated by the company at the second meeting of the European Academy of Otorhinolaryngology and Head Neck/Surgery.
