Cook Medical publishes positive trial data for Resonance stent

Cook Medical has published new data demonstrating the effectiveness of its Resonance metallic ureteral stent in offering relief from blockages.

The medical device company conducted a 29-month clinical study, during which it was shown that patients with both benign and malignant upper urinary tract obstructions benefitted from using the Resonance stent.

It was found that the devices were able to provide adequate drainage to sufferers and can remain in situ for 12 months without stent migration, intraoperative complications or significant encrustation.

Nicky James, vice-president and global leader of Cook Urology, said this study reinforces the “positive impact” its device can bring to patients.

He added: “The results of this study show that this device both improves patient care and can reduce medical costs associated with multiple stent changes.”

In April, the company commenced a new clinical trial of the Formula PTX renal stent, a device designed for use in treating artery disease.
