Covidien hails 20,000th ForceTriad delivery

31st January 2011

Covidien has hailed the success of its ForceTriad energy platform after the device passed a global sales landmark.

The healthcare company has delivered its 20,000th ForceTriad unit to Dongzhimen Hospital in Beijing, meaning the unit has been utilised in 96 different countries since its 2006 launch.

ForceTriad uses LigaSure technology to achieve dissection or permanent fusion of vessels, lymphatics, tissue bundles and pulmonary vasculature and is designed for use alongside handheld surgical instruments.

It is utilised in a variety of urologic and gynaecologic procedures such as hysterectomies and offers a viable alternative to traditional mechanical methods.

Bryan Hanson, president of energy-based devices at Covidien, said: "The purchase of the 20,000th ForceTriad energy platform by the Dongzhimen Hospital reflects Covidien's global expansion in energy devices."

Earlier this month, the company launched the compact new Puritan Bennett 520 ventilator system and EverFlex Plus Self-Expanding Peripheral Stent System to clients in Europe.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800374330-ADNFCR
