Eisai announces award win for anti-breast cancer agent

Eisai has announced it has been presented with a prize for its novel anti-breast cancer agent eribulin by the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.

The company confirmed the accolade celebrates its discovery of an anticancer agent possessing a novel mechanism of action, while highlighting the creation of a product from a compound that is extremely difficult to synthesise.

It comes as part of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan's dedication to researchers who have conducted outstanding work that has contributed to the development of new medicine in the form of a drug or applicable technology related to the science.

Recipients are rewarded by the body based on the ingenuity of research or if a product is being considered, the clinical benefits and other advantages it provides.
