EKF Diagnostics launches diabetic ketoacidosis test
EKF Diagnostics has announced the worldwide launch of its new quantitative strip-based test STAT-Site M Beta-HB, which recently received European CE Mark approval.
The test measures beta-hydroxybutyrate levels as a means of quickly and easily assessing diabetic ketoacidosis and can deliver results in less than 80 seconds from just ten microlitres of serum or plasma.
By rapidly assessing the presence and degree of ketosis at the point of care, clinicians will be empowered to provide quality care, while also reducing time and costs in an intensive care unit setting.
This will be one of a number of new EKF Diagnostics innovations that will be showcased by the firm at this year's American Association for Clinical Chemistry annual meeting.
Julian Baines, chief executive officer of EKF Diagnostics, said the products "are designed to rapidly and accurately detect and manage diabetes, anaemia, lactate and kidney-related diseases, as well as support better informed decisions on patient treatments through companion diagnostics".
The company is based in Germany and specialises in near-patient analysers for the detection and management of diabetes, anaemia, lactate and kidney-related diseases.
