Elsevier purchases research software developer Collexis
Elsevier has agreed a deal to purchase the semantic technology and knowledge discovery software provider Collexis for an undisclosed fee.
The deal sees the medical information services company acquire a number of Collexis assets, including its Expert Profiler and Reviewer Finder software, as well as its professional social network services.
These products allow professionals to accomplish goals such as tracking down experts for collaboration or help grant managers find the best available researchers.
Elsevier stated that the addition of these assets will allow it to offer more means of supporting institutions and researchers in improving efficiencies and showcasing accomplishments.
Jay Katzen, managing director at Elsevier Science and Technology, said: “We’ve created a unique set of solutions that enable universities and government agencies to improve research outcomes.”
Last month, Elsevier launched a application for Apple’s iPhone, allowing users to access its Scopus database of abstracts and citations via the handheld device.
