Elsevier SciVerse introduces NextBio search applications
Elsevier's SciVerse research platform has been updated with the addition of two new search applications from NextBio.
The first of these new utilities is SearchAssist, an auto-completion tool that provides users with suggested search terms collated from diseases, drug compounds, organisms, genes, author names and other relevant concepts.
Meanwhile, the Section Search application splits SciVerse articles into eight parts – including title, abstract, introduction and summary – and allows results to be filtered and defined using these categories.
Rafael Sidi, vice-president for the application marketplace and developer network at Elsevier, said: "The new applications show the power of our applications framework, by which technology companies and academic developers can leverage our APIs and our content to build new solutions."
Last month, the company announced that it will be providing internet users in Japan with free access to its MD Consult and First Consult databases during April 2011, in order to help medical projects taking place following the recent earthquake.
