Ferno highlights developments in bariatric products for obese patients
Ferno has highlighted the rising importance of developing bariatric products that cater to the needs of the growing patient population suffering from obesity.
The company has stated that it is taking a collaborative approach to dealing with "supersize" patients following a recent BBC report noting that the UK is Europe's fattest nation, an issue that is placing growing strain on the NHS.
As such, Ferno has been working with ambulance trusts and vehicle builders for several years to create products that address this issue, as well as sharing best practice and opinions on how the problem should be dealt with.
Jon Ellis, managing director of Ferno, expressed confidence that its investments will strengthen its market-leading position in the UK bariatric market.
"Regardless of the media interest, our priority is always to establish a safe and successful bariatric care programme that can be rolled out across the NHS," he added.
This comes after Ferno recorded its best-ever financial performance in 2010, which was driven in part by the strong growth of its bariatric products portfolio.
