Free Oral Homecare Webinar Series from Animalcare

As part of its campaign to support veterinary professionals in making confident and practical recommendations to clients about caring for their pet’s teeth, Animalcare is launching a series of webinars offering the latest advice on oral homecare

The first webinar Does Ease of Use Have to Come at the Expense of Efficacy? is led by Claire Harrison BSc (Hons) RVN VTS (Dentistry) AFHEA, Dentistry Nurse at the Hospital for Small Animals at the Royal ‘Dick’ School of Veterinary Studies. During the webinar, Miss Harrison will consider the best practice of daily toothbrushing for oral homecare and explore what practices can do to contextualise care for the many owners who struggle to achieve this goal. Research shows that the number of pet owners who brush their pet’s teeth daily is very small. One study in Sweden suggested that only 8% of dog owners and 4% of cat owners met this target¹. Claire Harrison gained her Veterinary Technician Specialty (Dentistry) in 2013 and is an active member of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians (AVDT).

Animalcare recently launched the Plaqtiv+® oral homecare range. Featuring patented Xpersiv™ technology, the range captures minerals and inhibits biofilm maturation to reduce the formation of calculus – a key contributor to periodontal disease. The Plaqtiv+® Water Additive is the first in Europe to receive Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) approval, confirming that it has delivered at least a 20% reduction in calculus in two studies². Other products in the range include biodegradable wipes, a gum spray and a malt flavoured toothpaste. Each has been designed to support owner compliance through ease of use and accompanying educational materials.
