Galderma launches anaesthetic cream Pliaglis in Europe
Galderma has announced the European launch of Pliaglis, a topical local anesthetic cream for use on intact skin prior to dermatological procedures.
The company has licensed worldwide marketing rights for the product from Nuvo Research, creator of the proprietary phase-changing technology that Pliaglis uses to create a pliable peel on the skin when exposed to air.
First introduced by Galderma in Argentina in 2011, Pliaglis' European launch follows on from its US debut last month, with rollouts in Canada, Central America, South America and Asia expected over the next two years.
The anaesthetic is designed to provide additional comfort to patients undergoing aesthetic treatments.
Didier Leclercq, managing director of Galderma's aesthetic and corrective centre of excellence, said: "Pliaglis really sets a new standard in topical anaesthetics and is a great complementary product in our already comprehensive aesthetic portfolio in Europe."
This week, the firm also announced that it is creating a new research fellowship in the US in partnership with the American Academy of Dermatology.
