GE Healthcare launches MultiOmyx pathology platform

3rd June 2013

GE Healthcare has announced the commercial launch of MultiOmyx, a groundbreaking new pathology platform that is capable of providing a cancer profile on a single slide.

The platform is already used for research applications and will initally be introduced to the clinical environment in July 2013 through a global service offering in Hodgkin lymphoma, courtesy of Clarient Diagnostic Services.

Utilising quantitative protein analysis to identify new biosignatures for personalised treatments, MultiOmyx allows pathologists to view multiple stains on a single tumour slice and analyse the results at a single-cell level.

This saves time, uses significantly less tissue and provides a more consistent result, while the  automated technology creates a digital map of the tumour that further facilitates analysis.

Carrie Eglinton Manner, chief executive officer of Clarient, said: "MultiOmyx opens up new possibilities for cancer research and development of innovative cancer prognostics and differential diagnostics."

Last week, GE Healthcare announced the purchase of the  transactional business of Unisyn Medical Technologies, a provider of ultrasound probe repair solutions.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801593874-ADNFCR
