GE Healthcare receives CE Mark for enhanced Vivid E9 system

GE Healthcare has been granted European CE Mark approval for the newest version of its Vivid E9 Cardiovascular Ultrasound system.

The new device incorporates XDclear technology and is designed to enhance visual quality in 2D, 4D, colour and Doppler imaging applications, while shortening examination times and enhancing diagnostic confidence.

Its new M5Sc-D probe provides superior sensitivity and quantification enhancements by fully automating regions of interest placement, while the system also offers standardised depth illumination, shared services and specialised tools for paediatric use.

The new product can be used in a wide variety of settings, including intensive care units, neonatal units, operating theatres and cath labs.

Al Lojewski, general manager of cardiovascular ultrasound at GE Healthcare, said: "We continue to enhance overall image quality by developing new probe technology that allows for enhanced sensitivity and image acquisition with high resolution on even difficult-to-scan patients."

Last month, the company announced that its Discovery PET/CT 690 and PET VCAR 2.0 systems were recently used in capturing the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging's 2013 image of the year.
