GE Healthcare’s new imaging system ‘allows access at any PC’
UK-based GE Healthcare has announced the introduction of Xeleris 2, an “advanced” nuclear medicine workstation that allows clinicians to review nuclear medicine images from their own PCs throughout a hospital.
Xeleris 2 is designed to connect all of a hospital’s imaging systems to one central workstation. Its Windows-based interface also allows clinicians to access nuclear medicine images from an online picture archiving system from any PC attached to the network to cut on administration times.
GE Healthcare hopes the new product will continue the success of the original Xeleris workstation, which recently completed its 6,000th shipment.
Hadi Moufarrej, global general manager of molecular imaging at GE Healthcare, commented: “The 6,000th shipped milestone for Xeleris is a testament to the workstation’s superior integration and connectivity capabilities, second to none in the industry.”
“These features, coupled with unmatched productivity capabilities, increase the overall workflow for the department and physicians. Perhaps most important, Xeleris lays the groundwork for future implementation of the personalised healthcare model,” he concluded.
Earlier this week, GE Healthcare demonstrated its latest positron emission tomography, which has a variety of applications, including aiding drug companies monitor the effectiveness of new products.
GE Healthcare’s headquarters are in Chalfont St Giles in Berkshire. It has several sites throughout the UK and is worth $15 billion (8.13 billion pounds).
