Gilead Sciences reports double-digit sales growth in Q3 2012

24th October 2012

Gilead Sciences has experienced significant growth during the third quarter of 2012 thanks to the strength of its antiviral franchise.

Total revenues for the three-month period came to $2.43 billion (1.52 billion pounds), which represented a year-on-year increase of 14 percent.

Demand for antiviral products such as Atripla, Truvada, Viread and Complera/Eviplera all saw marked improvements, with the latter in particular experiencing a fivefold sales increase.

Meanwhile, Gilead's newly released Stribild enjoyed a successful launch period, while its cardiopulmonary franchise also experienced a 24 percent rise in revenues.

Other highlights from the period included the approval of a new indication of Truvada in the US and the publication of positive phase III clinical trial data for a number of key developmental compounds.

The firm also recently agreed to ally with a number of Indian healthcare firms to expand access to HIV therapies in poorer nations, thus further supporting its commitment to improving global health.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801475073-ADNFCR
