GlaxoSmithKline and Adimab agree antibody technology alliance

GlaxoSmithKline is to utilise technology from Adimab in the creation of innovative new antibody-based therapies.

The new agreement sees GlaxoSmithKline receiving a non-exclusive licence to use Adimab's antibody platform for the discovery and optimisation of all antibody formats, such as bispecific antibodies.

It will be granted a broad licence to the antibody discovery platform and a unique and exclusive custom antibody library, as well as an option to receive continued access to improvements to the platform, including subsequently-developed libraries.

This represents the continuation of an existing relationship between GlaxoSmithKline and Adimab that has proven to be productive in the past.

Stephen Martin, head of biopharmaceuticals discovery at GlaxoSmithKline, said: "GlaxoSmithKline is pleased to gain the first full access to this exciting platform and the Adimab training and implementation team has shown a strong commitment to service and support."

Earlier this month, GlaxoSmithKline announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, during which it achieved a two percent year-on-year increase in turnover.
