GlaxoSmithKline and Adimab form new antibody research alliance
GlaxoSmithKline has announced that it will be expanding its established partnership with Adimab to discover new antibodies for potential therapeutic applications.
Under the terms of the expanded collaboration, Adimab will build a unique custom library for GlaxoSmithKline for use in generating bispecific antibody leads. It will help the partners to identify antibodies for multiple targets and generate relevant bispecific antibodies.
Adimab will also transfer the novel library to GlaxoSmithKline for its internal use in the discovery of bispecifics. GlaxoSmithKline will have the right to develop and commercialise therapeutic bispecifics generated from this library.
Over the past five years, Adimab has established and funded discovery collaborations with more than 25 companies.
Neil Brewis, head of biopharmaceutical research at GlaxoSmithKline, said: "Our existing collaboration has been highly productive and this expansion reflects our appreciation of Adimab's capabilities and collaborative approach."
This comes after GlaxoSmithKline formed a European consortium last month to help advance development of its candidate vaccine against Ebola.
