GlaxoSmithKline receives Aspen offer for thrombosis brands

19th June 2013

GlaxoSmithKline has announced that Aspen Global and Aspen Pharmacare Holdings have made an offer for its thrombosis brands and affiliated manufacturing facility.

A period of exclusivity has been agreed with Aspen following its bid for the therapies and the Notre-Dame de Bondeville site in France, with GlaxoSmithKline to respond to the offer following consultation with employees and relevant works councils.

Should the deal go ahead, Aspen would gain control of the Arixtra and Fraxiparine brands worldwide – excluding China, India and Pakistan – while also taking over the French production centre, the majority of its employees and certain dedicated commercial staff members.

A statement from the company said: "The proposed transaction is aligned to GlaxoSmithKline's strategy of focusing on products with the most growth potential and the delivery of its pipeline."

GlaxoSmithKline is one of the world's most prominent pharmaceutical companies, with offices in more than 115 countries, including major research centres in the UK, USA, Spain, Belgium and China.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801600991-ADNFCR
