GlaxoSmithKline to launch new toothpaste with NovaMin technology
GlaxoSmithKline has announced the launch of the world's first daily fluoride toothpaste that combats tooth sensitivity using NovaMin technology.
Sensodyne Repair and Protect will be released in UK pharmacies and supermarkets this month and functions by forming a tooth-like layer over exposed dentine to help fix sensitive areas.
It does so using NovaMin, a calcium phosphate-based innovation that reacts with water and was originally designed as a means of stimulating bone regeneration.
According to the manufacturer, this toothpaste can be used twice daily as normal and also offers standard all-round protection, cleaning and freshness benefits.
Dr Teresa Layer, vice-president for GlaxoSmithKline's oral healthcare research and development future teams, said: "Sensodyne Repair and Protect is a technological advance in everyday dental care."
This comes after GlaxoSmithKline agreed a deal in January that will see the Sensodyne name attached to Nupro products from Dentsply that utilise the NovaMin technology.
