Governent Extends Medical Device Marking Deadline to 2024
Business Secretary Grant Shapps revealed on November 14th that companies will be granted a further 2 years to implement the updated product safety marking. The decision was made to assist businesses as they concentrate on growth following a tumultuous few years.
The UK’s comprehensive regulatory system includes the establishment of the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) designation. It demonstrates that goods in the medical device sector adhere to product safety laws, which are intended to safeguard device users.
But given the current climate, they don’t want to impose the initially agreed deadline on businesses, the 31st December this year.
Now they have up to December 31, 2024 to get ready for the UKCA marking, with the CE mark continued to be acknowledged until then. Until the new cut off, each company has the option to pick which marking they wish to use based on what works best for them.
The government is adamant about enabling businesses to focus on their main goals, such as offering excellent customer service, fostering development, and providing a great working environment.
To help producers, product safety measures are being looked over to reduce problems and hassle while keeping the system current, with cutting-edge techniques like e-labelling.
