Gyrus: 2006 has been a successful period of change
Gyrus, the Reading-based supplier of surgical medical devices, has so far described 2006 as a “successful period of change”.
The company has reported 125 per cent growth on last year’s figures, with the revenue of the Gyrus legacy businesses increasing by 17 per cent.
In addition, the new PlasmaCision-derived products had been “well received” in their evaluation phase and around 100 of the G400 generators in the series had so far been sold.
The reintegration of the business has focused on developing income from the US-based domestic disposable sales, which Gyrus said would yield “significant enhancement” to operating profits.
Gyrus’ executive chairman, Brian Steer, remarked: “The first half of 2006 has been a successful period of change – we have made significant inroads into the integration programme and have started to re-orientate the legacy ACMI business towards our disposable devices business model.”
“At the same time we have successfully introduced our important new PlasmaCision technology. In addition, we look forward to a number of potentially significant new product launches in the second half of 2006,” he added.
Gyrus’ new digital ureteroscope and new product launches could show “significant potential”, according to the company.
The company employs over 650 people worldwide and markets hundreds of products. Gyrus is “focused” on developing less traumatic endoscopic and “open” surgery techniques.
