Henry Schein supports Marine Reach healthcare mission to Albania

Henry Schein has provided medical and dental consumable products and dental units to support an international healthcare mission organised by Marine Reach.

The humanitarian organisation's mission to Albania took place from April to June 2013 and involved the provision of dental and ophthalmologic treatment of patients in urgent need, as well as healthcare education to medical staff and members of the local populace.

More than 240 children – including many orphans – received dental treatments, with around 270 teeth extracted and over 260 restored, while the team dispensed 100 sets of reading glasses and performed more than 70 ophthalmic surgeries.

Henry Schein's product donations and immediate help when the Marine Reach team was in need of maintenance support proved instrumental to the mission's success.

Simon Gambold, managing director of Henry Schein's medical and dental business in the UK, said: "Through donating healthcare products and services, we are able to support healthcare professionals throughout the world who provide crucial treatment, as well as essential preventive care to those in desperate need."

This comes after the firm's volunteer organisation Henry's Angels supported the breast cancer awareness event MoonWalk in London earlier this year.
