Henry Schein to purchase AUV Veterinary Services

16th April 2012

Henry Schein is to expand its animal health operations through the acquisition of the Netherlands-based AUV Veterinary Services.

The company is the veterinary distribution business of the AUV Group and employs around 200 people in the Netherlands and Belgium, the two territories in which it is described as the leading distributor serving animal health practitioners.

Its net sales for 2011 came to 194.2 million euros (159.93 million pounds), with the buyout expected to provide Henry Schein with additional opportunities in the European market, as well as adding to its portfolio of innovative products.

Stanley Bergman, chairman and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "AUV enjoys an excellent reputation and a leadership position in the markets it serves and its heritage as a co-operative institution … will remain important as we move forward together."

Last month, Henry Schein was included in a list of the world's most ethical companies in a new report from the Ethisphere Institute.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801340904-ADNFCR
