Hologic launches Horizon bone densitometer platform
Hologic has introduced a new bone densitometer platform called Horizon, which is designed for the assessment of three critical health problems.
The totally redesigned dual energy X-ray absorptiometry system offers expanded technical capabilities, workflow efficiencies and improved design components, enhancing efforts to assess osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and obesity patients.
Its features include a single energy femur exam for visualising potential atypical femur fractures, a ten-year fracture risk report to aid the early detection of osteoporosis, high-definition instant vertebral assessment capabilities and an abdominal aortic calcification feature.
Hologic has designed the device to provide improved precision, stability and throughput compared to current products.
John Jenkins, Hologic's vice-president of marketing for specialty imaging products, said: "We expect the technical advancements built into our Horizon platform will set a new standard for image quality and operational efficiency."
This comes after it was announced last month that Hologic's ThinPrep Pap Test and Imaging System will be used as part of the national cervical screening programme in Scotland.
