IDS wins Queen’s Award for international trade success
IDS has been presented with a prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise, recognising the success of its global operations.
The life science company was declared the winner of the international trade category following a recommendation from prime minister David Cameron, with IDS to receive the accolade at a special ceremony this summer.
IDS exports more than 90 percent of its products internationally and revenues from overseas sales have continually grown over the last six years, leading to net profits rising from 1.17 billion pounds in 2006 to 16.64 billion pounds in 2011.
The firm's customer base now spans the US and Europe, while it is also establishing an increasing presence in Asia, including China.
Ian Cookson, chief executive officer of IDS, said: "The receipt of the Enterprise in International Trade Award is a powerful recognition of the dedication of our employees, our growing customer base around the world and of the excellent science that underpins our business."
This week the company is also attending the Osteoarthritis Research Society International world congress in Barcelona, where it is demonstrating a range of products.
