Ipsen announces 9-month financial results

2nd November 2009

Ipsen has posted its financial results for the first nine months of 2009, which show that the firm’s drug sales were up during the period by 7.1 per cent.

The company’s consolidated group sales also rose by 777.5 million euros (696.9 million pounds), while drug sales grew by 8.4 per cent on a year-on-year third-quarter basis ? or 9.4 per cent excluding foreign exchange.

Additionally, specialist care sales reached 464.8 million euros – up 11.4 per cent year-on-year or up 13.1 per cent at constant currency – representing 59.8 per cent of the organisation’s consolidated sales.

“One year after the closing of our US acquisitions, all the building blocks are now in place to ensure long-term growth through the successful launches of Somatuline Depot, Increlex, Dysport and Apokyn,” explained Jean-Luc Belingard, chairman and chief executive of Ipsen.

In mid-October, Ipsen acquired the exclusive rights to market the drug BLI-800 – a treatment designed for colonic cleansing before colonoscopy – from Braintree.
