Ipsen highlights positive trends in 2013 half-year report

30th August 2013

Ipsen has announced its financial results for the first half of 2013, during which it generated a revenue total of 663.9 million euros (567.39 million pounds).

This represented a 0.9 percent year-on-year increase, with strong sales of its key products Somatuline and Dysport helping to offset a decline in sales for Decapeptyl, while its primary care division also exceeded expectations.

Improved sales performances for Ipsen's operations in North America and emerging markets were enough to counterbalance the ongoing weakness seen in the core European region, owing to economic trends and regulatory changes.

Ipsen summarised the half-year results as "sound", given the challenging context in which it is operating.

Marc de Garidel, chairman and chief executive officer of Ipsen, said: "The group confirms its long-term growth prospects with the acquisition of Syntaxin in the field of toxin engineering and the positive results delivered by our research and development on the Somatuline Clarinet study."

The company also confirmed this week that it will be sharing new data from the Clarinet study at the European Cancer Congress in September 2013.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801631411-ADNFCR
