Ivoclar Vivadent announces takeover of Wieland Dental
Ivoclar Vivadent has announced the takeover of the Germany-based dental technology firm Wieland Dental.
The acquired business employs around 190 members of staff and offers a wide range of products, from CAD/CAM materials, dental alloys to veneering ceramics and electroplating.
It achieved a sales volume of around 60 million euros (48.47 million pounds) in 2011 and will represent an important addition to Ivoclar Vivadent's product portfolio when the deal closes during the fourth quarter of the year.
All-ceramics is one of the core competences of Ivoclar Vivadent and the purchase of Wieland Dental will help to strengthen the firm's standing in this key market.
Robert Ganley, chief executive officer of Ivoclar Vivadent, said: "Wieland Dental is a leading European manufacturer in the field of dental products with market-leading brands and a strong sales team. We are very pleased to have them join the Ivoclar Vivadent Group."
This comes after the business strengthened its capabilities earlier this year through the acquisition of Franz Berger as its chief financial officer.
