Janssen and DCPrime agree cancer vaccine collaboration

Janssen has announced a new research and optional license agreement with DCPrime pertaining to the development of a new cancer vaccine.

The collaboration will see Janssen utilise DCPrime's DCOne technology in feasibility studies for the development of a dendritic cell-based vaccine, as well as receiving an option to further develop a candidate therapeutic towards regulatory approval.

This alliance will involve work alongside the Johnson and Johnson London Innovation Centre, where a team of business science and transaction experts are identifying and building novel early-stage collaborations with emerging companies.

DCOne is being used in the development of various dendritic cell-based vaccines for a broad range of cancer types.

Marcel Zwaal, chief executive officer of DCPrime, said: "We are very excited to be able to work with Janssen and it will enable us to further extend the use our vaccine products."

This comes after Janssen announced last week that it will be allying with the not-for-profit organisation PATH to develop a new injectable treatment for HIV.
