Janssen outlines new drug development plans for 2017
Janssen's senior leadership has announced the company's plans to further develop its industry-leading pipeline between now and 2017 at a recent meeting with investors.
The company states that it will be submitting more than ten new product filings and in excess of 25 significant brand line extensions within the next four years, thus addressing the most serious global unmet medical needs.
Since 2009, Janssen has introduced 11 new drugs – more than doubling its productivity – while it remains on course to achieve its goal of ensuring that newer products account for nearly half of its total pharmaceutical sales by 2017.
The progress it is making in this area has helped Janssen to achieve 12 consecutive quarters of operational sales growth.
Dr William Hait, global head of Janssen Research and Development, said: "We are working to sustain our cycle of success into the next decade and beyond by leveraging the scientific expertise we've built in our core disease areas."
Janssen is one of the world's leading research-based pharmaceutical companies and its medicines are used to treat 1.5 billion patients every year.
