KCI launches new VAC VeraFlo dressing

KCI has announced the global launch of its new VAC VeraFlo Large Dressing, designed for easy application of VAC VeraFlo Instillation Therapy on larger wounds and those requiring additional dressing customisation.

It means that clinicians will be able to utilise instillation dressings to treat wounds of a wider range of size and complexity than in the past, with the launch coming as part of the company's ongoing efforts to expand the product line.

Dr Ron Silverman, chief medical officer at KCI, said: "The launch of the new large dressing means it becomes even easier to apply instillation therapy to different types of wounds."

Recently, KCI also initiated a trial assessing the benefits of negative pressure wound therapy with intermittent instillation treatment using a topical wound cleanser.

This followed on from a previous study which demonstrated the effectiveness of VAC VeraFlo Therapy with instillation with Prontosan Wound Irrigation Solution in the adjunctive treatment of wounds requiring hospital admission and serial surgical debridement, compared to VAC Therapy.

Last month, the company announced that it will be expanding its wound care capabilities further through the acquisition of the UK-based medical firm Systagenix.
