KCI names new member of board of directors

KCI and LifeCell's parent company has appointed James Carlson as the newest member of its board of directors.

Mr Carlson has more than 30 years of experience in the health insurance sector and is the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Amerigroup, where he played a key role in driving significant growth, culminating in its sale to WellPoint in December 2012.

He also currently serves on the boards of The National Kidney Foundation and Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center and has enjoyed a great deal of business success over the course of his long career.

Joe Woody, president and CEO of KCI, said: "Jim's experience in delivering high-quality patient care while reducing overall cost to patients, as well as public and private payors, will complement our strategic focus on the post-acute care setting."

This comes after the firm appointed veteran finance leader Robert Hureau as its new executive vice-president and chief financial officer last month.
