Malvern Instruments’ Zetasizer Nano used in tooth enamel research
Malvern Instruments has highlighted the role played by its particle characterisation system Zetasizer Nano in recent research into tooth enamel.
Scientists from the School of Dentistry at the University of California have utilised the machine to conduct a study that mimicked the growth of tooth enamel in a laboratory setting, providing insight into its constitution.
Study leader Dr Vuk Uskokovic stated that he chose Malvern Instruments' product after having utilised it on a previous project.
He said: "In a side-by-side trial with a competitive product, there was no contest. Results from the Zetasizer Nano were both more reliable and more robust."
Dr Uskokovic also praised the science company for providing guidance and expertise during the project, which he said was a "huge advantage" as the team executed the complex procedures involved.
Earlier this month, Malvern Instruments representatives attended the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies' 2010 conference in order to highlight the role played by its near-infrared chemical imaging technology in the pharmaceutical industry.
