Masters appoints Bill Burns as chairman

19th July 2010

Masters has announced the appointment of former Roche Pharmaceuticals chief executive officer Bill Burns as its new non-executive chairman of the board.

Mr Burns, who retired from his position at Roche earlier this year, brings more than 40 years of industry experience to Masters, having played a key role in several major merger and acquisition deals during his career.

The executive’s appointment comes as the firm also received 2.7 million pounds from venture capital investor Albion Ventures, which will allow it to pursue its expansion strategy in various core markets.

Dave Moran, chief executive officer of Masters, stated that the two new developments will be instrumental in placing the firm in a market-leading position.

Mr Burns added: “In Masters I see a company that has real potential to become a force in today’s healthcare sector.”

Last month, the company revealed that it will be increasing its investment in Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy in order to aid the development of treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
