Medtronic introduces new CD Horizon Solera spinal system
Medtronic has announced the global debut of a new fifth-generation spinal stabilisation system.
The CD Horizon Solera device is to be used alongside spinal fusion techniques and provides alignment corrections among sufferers of painful and debilitating middle and lower back problems.
It has been designed for use with Medtronic's minimally invasive Mast technology and surgical navigation and imaging systems, providing greater accuracy and flexibility while protecting clinicians from radiation exposure.
The system has also been integrated with Verifyi implant tracking technology, making it simple to electronically track specific devices to individual patients.
Doug King, vice-president and general manager of the spine business at Medtronic, said: "The launch of the CD Horizon Solera spinal system is a key step in renewing our global fixation business, bringing new innovation to the market and extending our industry-leading portfolio of spinal therapies."
Earlier this month, Medtronic announced the acquisition of Ardian, the medical device manufacturer responsible for the Symplicity Catheter System.
