Medtronic launches new Medtronic Hospital Solutions business

Medtronic has announced the launch of a new division dedicated to driving efficiencies and cost savings for hospitals.

Dubbed Medtronic Hospital Solutions, the business focuses on developing novel partnerships with hospitals to provide services directly related to operational efficiency, with an initial focus on Europe.

At first, it will specialise in managing and modernising catheterisation laboratory facilities and has already won tenders with the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London.

It will be responsible for providing the latest medical technology and infrastructure, running daily operations and developing local cardiac services markets, including the care pathway for patients requiring access to these services.

Frederic Noel, vice-president at Medtronic and director of Medtronic Hospital Solutions, said: "By applying high-quality efficient lean processes, we can provide long-term all-inclusive solutions that can help hospitals treat patients more efficiently while maintaining the highest quality of care."

This comes after the firm recently opened a new global centre of excellence for business model innovation in Singapore.
