Medtronic launches new screw for CD Horizon Solera system

Medtronic has announced the global introduction of a new screw for its market-leading CD Horizon Solera Spinal System.

The Sagittal Adjusting Screw has been optimised for use in the surgical correction of complex spinal pathologies and features a fixed head made of cobalt chrome containing a sliding saddle.

This element of the design provides vertebral body control with accommodation of rod seating, allowing surgeons the ability to position the screw in the natural kyphotic and lordotic curves of the spine.

Its introduction will enhance the functionality of the CD Horizon Solera Spinal System, which can be used for the treatment of degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, fracture, dislocation, failed previous fusions, tumours and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Doug King, Medtronic's senior vice-president and president of the Medtronic spinal business unit, said: "The Sagittal Adjusting Screw is another key element in enhancing the capability of our CD Horizon Solera pedicle fixation system."

This comes after the firm received European CE Mark approval for its ReDuX Plier osteotomy product last month.
