Medtronic receives CE Mark for Sentrant Introducer Sheath

8th April 2013

Medtronic has been granted European CE Mark approval for its Sentrant Introducer Sheath, a new accessory for endovascular interventions.

The device is designed for use with the company's Endurant II AAA and Valiant Captivia Stent Graft Systems and includes a optimal seal for superior haemostasis, as well as a reinforced coil to deliver kink resistance.

Inserted at the access site in the patient's femoral artery, the tapered tube is moved into the iliac arteries to facilitate the implant procedure, enabling its smooth passage to the treatment site in the aorta.

Other benefits of the sheath include its hydrophilic coating and flexibility, its radiopaque marker band that offers enhanced visibility and its dilator locking mechanism, which enhances its secure positioning.

A statement from the company said: "Compatible with the Archer Super Stiff Guidewire and the Reliant Stent Graft Balloon Catheter, it expands Medtronic's accessories toolkit for endovascular aortic interventions."

This comes after the firm received CE Mark approval for the Engager Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation System last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801568183-ADNFCR
