Merck Serono launches new trial of Easypod-based Saizen treatment
Merck Serono has begun a clinical study of its electronic auto-injector Easypod's impact on hormone treatments using Saizen.
Enrolment has commenced for the Ecos trial, which will involve at least 1,000 paediatric patients receiving the human recombinant growth hormone therapy over five years.
It will aim to evaluate the level of patients' adherence to Saizen when delivered via Easypod, as well as the effect this has on overall clinical outcomes.
Merck Serono believes the automatic dosage data collection and storage capabilities of Easypod can help to improve treatment management among those with poor adherence rates.
Fereydoun Firouz, head of the company's fertility and endocrinology global business unit, said: "Merck Serono's goal is to help children reach their full height potential by offering innovative solutions."
Earlier this month, the firm launched lifebeyondchemotherapy.com, a new online resource designed to support caregivers and family members of cancer patients by providing advice and clinical information on the disease.
