Merial and Georgia Tech to ally on connected technology research
Merial has announced a new collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology, focusing on new applications for connected technologies.
The company will ally with Georgia Tech's Center for the Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies (CDAIT) to see how the field of animal health could be advanced through the use of such innovations.
Designed to identify and understand the potential of networked devices and Internet of Things principles for animal health, the research will build on current understanding of telemedicine, wearable technologies and remote health management.
It will also look at how data analysis provides opportunities for increased efficiencies and better monitoring of disease trends in animals and humans alike.
Sebastien Lafon, global head of digital business at Merial, said: "Meeting today's global animal health challenges requires innovative approaches. This collaboration supports the way Merial thinks about integrating technology to benefit animal health."
Other members of the CDAIT include AT&T, Cisco, IBM, Samsung, Stanley Black and Decker, and Wipro.
