MSD Animal Health renames European research laboratory

10th April 2013

MSD Animal Health has underlined its commitment to aquaculture health by rebranding its Norwegian research and development facility, currently known as the Coldwater Aquaculture Laboratory.

The site will take on the new name MSD Animal Health Innovation in order to bring it within the overall structure of the organisation, having originally acquired the laboratory along with Intervet/Schering-Plough in 2009.

MSD Animal Health Innovation will continue to serve as the primary research and vaccine development facility for coldwater aquaculture for the company, further developing the work it has carried out for more than a decade.

The lab played a key role in the creation of the innovative Norvax line of vaccines, including Norvax Minova 6 and Norvax Compact PD.

Dr Luc Grisez, head of aquaculture research and development for MSD Animal Health, said: "By combining our passion, expertise, resources and vision with Coldwater Aquaculture Laboratories, we extend our global leadership position in advancing animal health and safety."

This comes after the firm introduced a new vaccine product for pigs called Panacur AquaSol in Europe last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801569468-ADNFCR
