New framework could see GPs financially rewarded
A new system that rewards GPs for the way they treat young patients could be introduced in Scotland, according to reports.
The Herald said the measure was announced yesterday as part of the Action Framework for Children and Young People’s Health in Scotland, which hopes to provoke a full public consultation on how best to treat children in Scotland.
The consultation will now run until July 10th, but the idea is that the framework and subsequent discussion will ascertain the “practical foundations” needed to improve healthcare for young people in Scotland through the NHS.
“This Action Framework is designed to offer clear guidance to the NHS and those agencies with whom it works in close partnership, regarding the activities and issues that need to be prioritised and addressed over the next few years if we are to make progress towards the healthy future to which Scotland rightly aspires,” said Morgan Jamieson, National Clinical Lead for Children and Young People.
Other ideas include the introduction of special training for staff so they are better able to manage sick children and the possibility of national standards for evaluating children’s conditions in certain situations, according to the Herald.
