Norbrook launches new ketoconazole animal shampoo

Norbrook Laboratories Ltd has rolled out a new medicated shampoo for small animals that helps to treat dry and itchy skin at the same time as deodorising and conditioning coats.

Clearcoat Shampoo – an improved formulation ketoconazole shampoo – replaces the company's previous Norclear product and contains ingredients that are gentle on pets' eyes, while it is formulated without the use of sulphates and parabens.

Michelle Jones, Norbrook's small animal brand manager, said ketoconazole shampoos are common healthcare products in the human healthcare market and treat conditions from baldness to dry skin.

She added: "In animal health, ketoconazole shampoos are less common, but the benefits of this ingredient are just as relevant for our cats and dogs."

The new and improved product will be available to buy from veterinary practices as waiting room general sale and is packaged in squeezy 300ml and 500ml bottles.

According to Ms Jones, ketoconazole is extremely effective and products containing the ingredient can also be used to treat fungal infections like ringworm.
